“Georgia State is one of nine campuses to benefit under that public-private partnership. In 2015, we began construction on Piedmont Central, which is operational today with 1,152 beds. You’re looking at what was a very strategic and cost effective, progressive kind of thinking from a state level system to make the deal. I believe $350 million worth of debt was removed off the state’s books, which is pretty impressive. That was a very progressive decision, and the deal has been going really well. We have a great partner we work with at Corvias who has really been committed to finding success and the way I describe the deal is that it’s an arranged marriage for 65 years; it’s a long-term commitment. We’ve had to work together to navigate finding success in the relationship because there are a lot of opportunities. Our effectiveness in communication and our ability to work together is really where this P3 deal is successful. Corvias has been an amazing partner. The Board of regents of USG has kind of served as a form of support to ensure the flow of everything.”
