On-post Housing Eases Transition from West Point Graduate to Fort Rucker Flight School Student

June 18, 2021

For generations, select graduates of the United States Military Academy, also known as West Point, relocate to Fort Rucker, Alabama to attend the Army’s Aviation Flight School. In recent years, Corvias Property Management has provided on-post housing to these flight school students as part of the larger Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). Incoming students can take advantage of the comfortable, spacious, affordable, and convenient accommodations that exist on post for single and married students.

“Every year, we welcome about 100 West Point graduates to their new homes at Fort Rucker,” said Melissa Bryson, operations director, Corvias Property Management. “The transition from the rigors of West Point to the responsibilities and demands of flight school can be challenging. We take pride in supporting these service members through that transition.” Flight students have an option to live in Allen Heights if they are single or Bowden Terrace if they are married.

While there are many benefits to living on base, residents say the most valuable benefit of on-base living is being in the heart and soul of the Ft. Rucker community. After a long day of school, there is no commute because you’re already home. The on-base community also offers a variety of amenities including, multiple community centers with pool tables, media rooms, outdoor green spaces, swimming pools, gyms, a bowling alley, golf course, kayaking and more.

Since Fort Rucker is the home of Army Aviation, the relationships flight students develop while living on base can run long and deep and last throughout their aviation careers. Corvias Property Management enjoys welcoming back residents year after year when they return at different points in their career for additional training, to teach, or take command.
